Review of the Score by Elle Kennedy

The Score (Off-Campus, #3)The Score by Elle Kennedy
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved it. Enough said! Review to come.
Updated 12/10/16:

I think I was the most shocked about who this book was about. After reading one and two I did not think that it would be about Dean. And I reread book one and two and Allie was in a relationship with some guy named Sean but their love was not discussed that much.

Since I am over my shock let me review this bitch. The book was good, like really good. I knew at the beginning I was going to love the hell out of this book. One (1): I love the series, Two (2): the writing is fierce and Three (3): the author had me fall in love with a character that was supporting in two books and that I really did not give a second glance at. I mean he was discussed but, I just didn’t commit him to my “his getting a book” thought process.

So he gets a book. And the story was smooth. The development made sense and was sound. I was lost in this book for many hours and loved how she lead me the best ending.

So you know that I love how each of my past favorite characters of book one (1) and two (2) are present in this book and all man did I realize home much I miss them. It has been some time since the last I read about their convoluted love lives and had to go back for another read. Of course they were great AGAIN and it also allowed me to understand book three (3) because of previous information shared. Now, That Is All I Am Going To Say About That.

Dean is the typical jock and someone who knows his hockey. The boy has mad skills. He is what I call a hit and run. He hits that vag and then he is out. He dominates where he is at and knows when to be playful and serious. He has a side to him that no one knows about, and I like this side. He is well rounded and perfect for 88

Allie is lost and found at the same time. She is lost because she doesn’t know what to do with her life/career. She is found because she made a profound decision that is a defining part of the book. What I like is that she does not let this decision define her. She is comfort about with herself, whether she is defined for all to see or carefree. She is described by Dean as a natural beauty/girl next door who can change to the scarlet bombshell. I love how he describes her. Too sweet.
Either way, I totally understand why Wellsy and Allie are good friends.

I love how Elle writes about friendships and men taking care of women. It is all good and makes me the reader happy about what I am reading.

Love PNR b/c of Ruby!

Does a Bear Shift in the Woods (Bear Bites, #4)Does a Bear Shift in the Woods by Ruby Dixon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is best book out of the four. Sweet love, it was good.

Ruby has made a collection of bear stories that will awaken your hibernating heart. Within every story you will see love, passion, devotion and an alpha. I enjoyed the quick stories that explored love in a humble sense and touched on the HEA that we often want to happen for the hero and heroines.

I have learned to enjoy the quick books when I am between books. Sometimes, it starts right where I need it to in the story and I appreciate that.

Ruby has allowed me to expand my read genre to paranormal but only because of her and Alexa to I read this genre. I am a lover of romance but not I like a bit of animalistic nature in it.

Happy reading and writing.

Release Day Blitz - Bear Bites

bear bites banner.jpeg

Synopsis - AP.jpg

SHIFT OUT OF LUCK

There are few things that are off limits to the were-bears of Pine Falls, but humans are one of them. Which is a real pain, because I’ve had it bad for curvy Adelaide Laurent ever since she sashayed into town. The fact that she’s forbidden fruit just makes my fantasies all the sweeter.
But when she signs up to go on a weekend camping trip with the town’s biggest player, it’s time for a bear to step in and claim his mate.
I don’t care if it breaks the rules. She’s mine, and it’s time she knew it.

SHIFT JUST GOT REAL

Life’s given me the short end of the stick on looks – I’m big, ugly and brutish. Normally I wouldn’t care about the packaging except for the fact that the woman of my dreams is Ryann Brown, a human half my age and so lovely she makes my body ache. What’s a were-bear to do in this situation?
Whatever he can to forget her, of course.
Except Ryann’s not taking no for an answer. And when she catches me watching her one night, she gives me a show I’ll never forget. Did I think I’d be able to walk away and not touch her? Not claim what’s mine?
Not a chance.

GET YOUR SHIFT TOGETHER

I’ve been looking for a mate in all the wrong places. When the right one shows up in Pine Falls with a man in tow, I almost miss her. Caroline Abbott is a sweetheart of a city girl who is making one last stab at keeping her (dead) relationship together. When her fool of an ex takes off and leaves her alone in the forest, I’m more than happy to step into his abandoned shoes.
While I can make her shout with pleasure, I worry those screams will turn to fear when she realizes that my hidden half is a bear.
I can’t keep the secret much longer, but telling her might scare her off for good.

DOES A BEAR SHIFT IN THE WOODS

I’m a loner for a reason. I don’t have much in the way of social skills. I’d rather sit on my deck and watch the sunset than hit a tavern with coworkers. My idea of grooming is to trim my beard with a straight blade when it hits my collarbone. I can’t put two words together in the company of a pretty woman…and they don’t come much prettier than wolf-shifter Madison Thorne.
She’s everything I’m not—outgoing, easy on the eyes, and sweet. There’s no way I’m convincing her to come home with me. Fortunately I don’t have to. Maddie seems to like my gruff, unpolished self. At least, she likes me enough for one night.
The problem is getting her to stay forever.

DOES A BEAR SHIFT IN THE WOODS
I swipe a hand across my mouth. “You’re so fucking beautiful, Maddie Thorne. You should be in town or with one of the Millers but fuck if I’m going to take you there. Now get your pretty ass over here.”
She hops to, submissive to her core. I’ve heard about wolves like her. They want to be ordered around. It makes them feel wanted, appreciated. And if you don’t work them with a firm hand, then they don’t respect you.
If I’m going to have Maddie more than once, I’ll have to show her that I understand her peculiar needs. And I’m going to want to have her again and again. Once isn’t going to be enough. I don’t even need to taste her to know that I want to keep her. Maybe not as my mate. No, not a mate, but I can’t see myself letting her go in the near future. Or the far future.
I lick my lips. The urge to feast on her body is almost too strong to resist. But I know I have to wait even if it kills me.
“Come on inside.” I beckon for her to join me.
“This is a big shower.”
“I’m a big man.”
Her eyes fall to my cock that’s pointing straight up in the air.
“Yes, you are,” she says in full appreciation.
My cock jumps toward her, seeking her wet heat. I grab my junk and pull down hard. This is about Maddie’s needs. Not mine.
“Shampoo,” I manage to grunt out. “Wash me.”
I take a seat before I fall down and keep a painful grip on my cock as Maddie pours shampoo into her hand and begins to lather me up. Her fingers dig into my scalp, and her lush tits press against my head. Sometimes I feel a nipple against my neck or shoulder. It’s a goddamn tease, a fucking torture. But I bear it so she knows that I can be in control no matter what she does.
It’s the hardest test I’ve ever endured.
When she moves to the front and stands between my legs, I nearly spurt all over her creamy skin. I bite down on the inside of my mouth hard enough that the tangy taste of copper spreads across my tongue. The blood and pain are just enough to keep the edge off as she commences petting my beard.
“Your hair is a lot softer than I thought it would be,” she comments almost absent-mindedly as she scrapes her fingernails across my jawline.
A moan builds in my throat, and my breath turns choppy and harsh as I fight for control. Her pussy, slick from her arousal, from the water, from the soap, slides across the top of my fist. She’s trying to break me, but it’s not happening.
“You done yet?” I ask, my tone harsh and angry.
“Almost.” There’s a tease in her voice that tells me that she could do this all night. It’s time to up the game.
“You’re done,” I tell her. I surge to my feet and grab a wet hank of her hair. I tug hard until the long column of her neck is exposed. “I was going to let you suck my cock, but you were a bad girl, trying to tease me like that. You were trying to make me come, weren’t you?”
She returns my hard stare with a bright, mischievous one of her own. “I was just washing you like you had ordered.”
I shake my head. “That kind of sass is going to earn you more lashes.” I whip her around to face the tile. “Hands up on the tile. You do not move for any reason. Hear me?”
She nods.
“Use your words, babe.”
“Yes. No moving until you tell me to.”
“Good girl.” I give her a light slap on the ass and then kneel down between her legs. In this position, I can see every inch of her sweet pussy, from her swollen lips to her eager little clit. The puckered skin around her ass tempts me just as much. One day soon, I’m going to take her there. But for now? Now I’m going to eat her like I’m a starving man and she’s my first meal.

Review of 3 little mistakes "Self Stem (get a sex toy) needed"

Three Little Mistakes (Blindfold Club, #3)Three Little Mistakes by Nikki Sloane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Slow for me in the beginning. I know it was do to me looking for Logan and Evie and Payton and Dom. But I found them, some sooner than others but they were there. This made me content and the calming reading began.

This book was fabulous!

Genre: Erotica
Series: Yes and so very GREAT
Rating: 5/5
Steam level: 4.75/5
Main characters: Joseph Monsato (owner of Blindfold Club) and Noemi Rosso (Newbie but natural submissive)
Synopsis:
I sell sex, sin, and pleasure, but it isn’t just my business, it’s my entire life. I get off on the power of controlling it all.

She’s the one woman I can’t have.

She threatens everything, and yet I can’t stay away. There’s a beautiful, sexual creature inside this timid girl that’s desperate to claw its way out. I’m going to set it free, even if it brings my empire tumbling down.

I have to believe she’ll be worth all the little mistakes I’ve made.
Did I enjoy?: Yes. I will be reading this book again, soon.
Brief review:
I will start by saying that this author came out with a bang with the Three Little series. She is dominating the scene and I am so happy that I am reading her books. I am so happy that my little thoughts of such naughty things have made it to e-readers everywhere. I have never shared any of my nymphomaniac thoughts but when Nikki put them on paper, I was singing and fan girl dancing.
The story basically picks up where it left of in book #2, which is so dope and a must read. So we get to get a more in depth look into the master (I mean for-real he is a master of my mind and body. And so very hot) mind of “The Blindfold Club”. I like that when Joseph wants something he doesn’t have to beg he just looks at you and you submit. Sweet doggie-style this book was so spoken hot.
I love the age difference, I love that she is a submissive and doesn’t know it. I love that he loves her and he can’t control that and he loves to control everything. I love that the characters we loved from book 1 and 2 are present in this tale, even if it is only briefly.
The development was so smooth throughout except in the beginning, I really felt like the story was a little choppy. But it sorted itself out. I loved that also.
This book is a total self-stem book. You need to get a good toy and ease the ache from reading this or you will be giving yourself orgasm denial.
Once you read those hot scenes, you will need to take a self-stem break.

Happy Reading.

Sustained by Emma Chase My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sustained (The Legal Briefs, #2)Sustained by Emma Chase
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Genre: Contemporary

Series: Yes Book two in the series.

Rating: 5/5

Steam level: 3.5/5

Main characters: Jake Becker (lawyer) and Chelsea McQuaid (college student, aunt, she does everything)

Synopsis:

A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.

When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.

Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.

Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I'm going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and arguing cases in the principal's office.

Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids.

And that — that, I know how to do.

Did I enjoy?: Yes. Immensely.

Brief review: First, I love Emma’s writing. It is witty, sexy, classic, and dominates your life when reading. She has this style that is just, AWESOME. I read very few contemporary books. I am smut (Erotica) all day long but there is something about her writing that lures me in like a sailor to a siren.

Second, I love the characters. They are so loveable and nothing like her other series, which is perfect. Emma always has a comic relief person in the book. If it is not Drew’s niece from the Tangled series or grandma in book one of the Legal Briefs series, then it is children and lots of them. There is nothing worse than an author recycling the topic in a new series with the same ole same ole. Yes, it is about a boy and he meets a girl but that is what all romance books are about. The way she has them meet, is perfect and challenging. I kept thinking while I reading this book, if this was me would I do that; uh YES, and would I want him to do that; HELL YES and is that position even sexually possible; honey I need you for a book fact check and YES it is, Thank you Ms. Chase.

Third, she makes reading fun. I read books because I like the escape. Sometimes I read a book and I am very upset with how it turned out. It’s like two people are writing it, the author and the editor. But her books just have this flow that is just harmonious with my book soul and that makes me giddy.
She writes so well that I don’t even miss what the smut (erotic) sessions. Her writing fulfills a need that I seek when I read smut (erotic) books

Would I read it again: Yes. I just reread this book last week. That would be three times. Sweet Tomatoes, this book is fantastic.

If you have not read this series, start on it now. It is awesome. I recently posted that there is a sale taking place for book one, this will allow you to catch up with the series. This book can be read as a standalone and it does involve a HEA and a lot of mini adults, which are hilarious.

Happy Reading.

{5-star rating} {Review of Overruled}

Overruled by Emma Chase
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Emma has done it again. She has brought humor, sexiness, an alpha, and Drew. Yes, I said Drew because he is back in Emma’s new book Overruled. To squash and prevent an all out fenizy, Drew is only in it for a brief hot moment but it was a time that I cherished, because I am all GAGA for Drew….I digress.

Stanton is a good fine Southern man who is a lawyer in the big city. This is how the beginning of this synopsis reads but the story actually takes place during Stanton’s “becoming a man” time and progresses forward.

While in college Stanton meets Drew. Now we recently (in his past books) have seen Drew as an ass, an uncle, a lover, a jerk, a friend, a father, and a fighter. Well to Stanton he is a friend that teaches him a lesson about life and women not once but twice. Stanton is a man that all the women want but three women get to have. The problem for this, is not the ladies but it is him. See the women know what they want. They either want Stanton to leave them the hell alone, want more of him, or did know that they wanted more of him. And poor Stanton he is man that is most definitely smiling from ear to ear because of this unrequited/unconditional/unwanted love.

Emma did the following in this book:
1. Made me laugh
2. Shocked
3. Cry
4. And placed me on the edge of my seat.

As always Emma brings in the ringer. Now in the other books by Emma I found that person to be Dee, Drew’s niece Mackenzie, and now it is a gun toting Grandma.

Grandma is a key person in this book and in the town. She knows things. She has a wealth of knowledge about life and relationships and she is ready to protect her family (the women) from Stanton. She brings all the comic relief in the book and a little Bourbon.

The book has a great flow and I was extremely happy that this book was not like the Tangle Series. Emma brought something new to the table with her writing and she did a damn fine job. She is an excellent writing and I am eager for more in this series. I think Emma is going to take some changes, from the synopsis I read of her next book in this series and that needed in the book world. More chances.

Happy reading and writing.

{5-Star} {Review of the Mistake}

The Mistake by Elle Kennedy
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have been thinking about this amazing book for weeks. How Elle did it again and brought just the right about of smolder, man, plot, story…all of it.

Logan had me in Book one “The Deal”. I absolutely loved how his character was developed in the book. He had really good interactions with Hannah. We all know the outcome to this story but Elle made us want more of Logan. How she was going to give it to use, I did not know, until I received this wonderful eARC in early April.

1. She made Logan want what he couldn’t have and that made me want him more.
2. Elle made him sexy, weak and curious, all at the same time. He was so extra HOT.
3. Elle placed Logan in uncomfortable predicaments
a. While Hannah and Garrett watching a movie (their loved shined, lol)
b. In his room with thin walls (their loved bounced? No. Shook the world. No. Orgasm loudly, yeah I like that one.)
c. In the kitchen
4. But then she put Logan in the wrong place at the right time and this is where he meets Grace
5. Grace is perfect, young, sweet and the BIG V.
6. To cover for his want of all things Hannah, he plays a little with Grace
7. Now this is a good thing and a bad thing but it is a thing with LOGAN so what can a girl say be Yes, Sir!!!!!
8. Grace wants to be with Logan; Logan wants to forget about Hannah and her love for his Garrett, his best friend. The best way to get over someone is to get under someone. And he got under Grace. Well, more like between her legs.
9. I love how they link up in the most interesting ways and do not intend of linking up
a. The movies
b. The dining hall
c. The party
10. Elle gave me everything I needed in a book, that I didn’t know I could accept because I love smut. But this New YA or New Adult. I don’t know what is it is except it’s non erotic book and it was GREAT. Like really GREAT. I truly enjoyed the writing. The book is funny. Like I was laughing so hard, funny. It was sweet, new, refreshing, real, and defining. Everyone in the book, that is key, has at one time dealt with life and coped with it the best they could. Logan’s story broke my heart (he wanted but could never reach it) and I was reaching for a win with him/for him, in hopes that his dreams (even the ones he did not know he wanted) would come true.

The End.

Happy reading and writing.

Review of Until July

Until July (Until Her, #1)Until July by Aurora Rose Reynolds
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

If I would have read Until July first, before all Aurora’s preview wonderful alpha men and the women that they love series, I would have rated as 4.5 stars. But because I read about her parents and her uncles and the boom they experienced, I was not overall happy with this book. I just have mixed emotions.

I have some YEAHs in the book and a lot of WHAT’s.

Lets start with the YEAHs:
1. I loved that I read book of this series and knew July’s parents, Asher and November, they are still the same people we read about in book one. Their love is so intense and sweet. I loved it.
2. I loved July’s job it was perfect
3. I loved all the sisters and that we got a back story on them
4. Love that July is like her mother and can ride a bike, so awesome
5. The story was good, not what I thought it would be but it was good. (Just enough of the past (meaning the old characters make an appearance) to make the book get to that 3.5 star rating. It was the past that help save this book
6. The author did not go all Mayson family with Wes, our male lead. He was badass because he was a military man and he was a biker.
7. I love how July describes the man she has always wanted since she was child
8. I love how July and Wes kiss the first time.
9. The epilogue was…Wow. Powerful

Shaking my head and what I did not like so much:
1. The book had too much chaos. I know that Aurora is famous for this suspense and drama being placed different places in her books but this was just too much for me. I felt like it was all over the place.
2. I was trying to understand how old Jax was. It is confusing in the story, also, I do not know what he does for a living. I think he is a cop like his grandpa and maybe now Nico is a cop? I just don’t know. It was not clear.
3. In this book Aurora gives July a totally different name then from book 1. She went from July Heaven Mayson to July Abigail Mayson. What is the ham? You know when I heard this book was coming out I read the entire series again. So I was shocked to have discovered this. But this is not where the deducing ends.
4. The book seems to have some continuity issues with July’s name, her sister changing outfits in the middle of dining and the year the book takes place in relation to July’s age. In Until November, November talks about Google and how she searches for random information for Beast on there. It’s cute and one of the things I really like about her. But Google was founded in 1998, so even if November met Asher in 2000, it would have to be 2027 for this book to be accurate. I know it is fiction but if you have series connected to this, then you have to be clear or have a disclaimer, something. Also, the other kids seemed to be off in ages, I am referring to the cousins.
The additional Mayson’s (cousins and sisters) seem to have a convoluted storyline coming about and I am mehing the stories.

Will I buy it, yeah probably because I can give her a get out of jail card with this book, right? Yeah, I think I can.

Honestly, I just did not leave this book thinking I want to read this again because I love it, like I did the others. I left this book thinking, I need to read it again to see if I notice any new inconsistences.

I must admit there was some sweetness to this book and the ending was prime. I was speechless. She did her thang with the ending. Since I am the non-spoiler queen I will say this about the ending. It was pure, real, and just from the heart raw.

Happy reading and writing.

Review for Three Hard Lessons

Three Hard Lessons (Blindfold Club #2)Three Hard Lessons by Nikki Sloane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nikki did it again and so quickly. As people began to get over their heavy breathing and repeated flashback of how hot book one of this series is she gives us book two and it is a glorious. It begins were book one ended and tells us the story of our favorite call girl/bestie/ménage coordinator, Payton. We loved her in book one and cherish her in book two.

The flow of the book was so smooth and there is never a dull moment and even Payton is always doing something in this book. It just so happens that Payton and Logan’s best friend and the guy house he is squatting in Dominic, have a night to remember to the point that Payton breaks some of her rules and loses her mega bucks job. You know that I will not give away what is happening in the book but I will say that this book is all about location, location, location.

I love supporting characters in books. I think they are the driving force of a great story. Without them the characters can seem blah. They really bring the shine of this story. This story was no different.
I loved, loved, loved Dominic he is so sweet, shy and unknowing of his hotness. He is willing to do anything for Payton. His role is real, just like our previous lead in book one and Dom, Logan. What I mean by real is that I feel like his situations are could happen to a friend of mine and that his is an average Joe. I like that he does not play around with his feelings/ wants for Payton and express his need for Payton. He is lonely and she is definitely not dull so their partnership is hot from the start.

It won’t be a story, I love, without the drama and the angst. It won’t be one of the best erotica story without the smut, 2nd best sex scene this read year for me. Number one is book one, of course. And it won’t be romance if there was not a happy ending, and I will tell you there is and drum roll…… no cliffhanger! Yes!

But what makes it the BEST and one of the reasons why Nikki is on my short one-click list (meaning I do not even need to read the synopsis I will always click her. She could write about blue humpback whales and I am buying, but I digress) is because what she writes is also FUNNY. I was laughing so much. The humor is classic and needed now in most stories.

This is a best buy (because the book is on sale as of 4/9/15) and one of my go to books when I am in a runt.
Happy reading, writing and blogging!

Excerpt

“I don’t know what you want from me,” I whisper. Communication was never this hard. The distance growing further between us as each day passes makes me afraid that this is what we’ve become. “I just want to bring you happiness, baby,” he sighs, but before I can tell him I don’t think he can, Harlow’s cries come through the monitor. I move off the bed to go to her, knowing she will need to be fed. “You walk out of this room, Kadence, you walk out on me.” His cold tone stops me from moving any further. It’s the same tone he used in the bathroom. “Leave her,” he commands, but the thought of continuing this conversation, where we tear each other down, has me fighting him. “Nix, I have to check on her.” I continue to the door. “Don’t you dare leave this fuckin’ room. I’m important too. I’m your fuckin’ husband. Do you hear me? We are important.” His hand sweeps across his nightstand, causing one big crash that sends everything tumbling to the floor. I’m frozen in place, my hand resting on the door handle. The room is silent. The shock of what has gone on tonight so raw I don’t think either of us knows how to process it. “I don’t know what you want from me,” I repeat, closing my eyes when Harlow’s cries grow louder, sending my anxiety rising. Doesn’t he know he’s only making it worse? “Jesus, I don’t know. Give me a look, smile at me…fuckin’ touch me. Give me a connection that says we’re on the same fuckin’ side. I can’t continue to stay in this place we are in. I’m drowning here, Kadence. We both are, and I just don’t know if I can keep treading water for both of us. You have to help me, baby. You have to want us to survive.” He falls to the bed, his head dropping to his hands. Seeing him like this, in this state makes me realize that our situation is bigger than me, than him. It’s bigger than either one of us realize. “That’s not fair.” I release the handle and turn, collapsing against the wall. The wind knocks out of me as his words resonate within me. We are drowning and I have to stop fighting. At this realization, my knees become weak. Standing becomes too hard. I slide down the wall, dropping my ass to the carpet. “Life isn’t fair, Kadence. I wish it was, but it just isn’t. Look where we both have come from; look where life has taken us. We won’t survive if you won’t talk to me, Kadence. Talk to someone.” He stands to come to me, but having him in my space only makes things worse. “Please don’t.” I draw in a breath, defeated. His frustration and concerns only prove what a bad mother I’ve been, what a bad wife I’ve become. “Don’t what, Kadence? Don’t make me walk away. I want my wife back. I don’t know what’s happened, but I don’t like who you’ve become.” His voice is pained, as broken as my soul feels. His confession doesn’t surprise me, but it still burns. I know I don’t like who I’ve become. How do I expect Nix to like me? “You don’t think I ask myself that question every day? That I don’t look at myself and ask what is wrong with me? I don’t know who I’ve become, Nix. All I know is I should. I should know who I am.” My head thuds against the wall in defeat. I can’t keep going on like this. I can hear Harlow’s cries quietening, as she resettles herself, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting out of this room. “I know who you are, Kadence. You’re the woman I love. The most amazin’ mother to our daughter, our son.” Saying Z is my son pulls at me harder. The fact that he, too, is affected by what is happening hurts even more. Nix walks over and squats to my level, careful not to get into my space, but close enough for me to reach out and touch him if I wanted to. “Why don’t I know that? I should know that Nix.” “You don’t have to know. I know, the kids know and that’s enough.” “It’s not enough for me.” My hand itches to touch him, to feel his hardness under my fingers, but sitting broken on the floor of our bedroom, I know I can’t. I can’t touch the man who means everything to me and I hate myself for it. “When did you stop trustin’ yourself?” “I don’t know. When did I stop being myself?” I counter, and my admission halts him for a moment. He crawls forward, coming closer into my space. His warmth, his calming presence wraps itself all over me. “The first step is askin’ for help, baby. Let me help you. You don’t have to be alone. Let me learn to breathe the ugliness you see. Let me share the darkness, Kadence. Just don’t push me away.” His pleading pulls at me, pulls at the hatred that has settled inside. “I’m not doing good, Nix,” I say, looking up and giving him what he needs. What I need. “Somewhere along the way, I woke completely lost and overwhelmed. And every day, it gets harder and harder to deal.” A sob tears from deep within me, and walls I’ve been hiding behind crumble down. “I know, baby.” He pulls me into the hardness of his chest. “We’re gonna be okay,” he promises, and everything in me wants to believe him. Everything in me wants to trust he has me. That he has us. But the truth is, I’ve drowned in so much self-doubt and uneasiness, that trust seems so far away.

Review:

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

River created this light into a new MC series that has it’s own zip code. She encased me in all things Kadence and Nix. She created this place of peace and dominance. Then it ended. But the light didn’t go out. It shined, just differently. It was sweet and traumatic and had me FUBAR’ed with emotions for characters that are fictional.
She afflicted me with this glorious story and then once again left me wanting more. River is so great, that she knows when her fans want more. We are eager. And have been ready for anything she can give us, we are like savages. We are hungry and we thirst for more MC greatness.

And we get it in Reclaimed. Once again, River lead me in a direction that I did not know I wanted or needed to read. She opened my eyes to distorted views and demands we make for ourselves. She let me know that everyone is not perfect and we all need love and someone not to give up on us.

I have to say that I was mad in the beginning of this book because, the couple I was reading about was not the couple I recognized in book one and two. Their light had burnt out and that was difficult for me to process. I had to put the book down and breathe. I was affected by this story.  Again, they are fictional but the way River writes them, you feel like they are the neighbors next door. The pain Nix felt, I felt. I couldn’t do anything; I could not be a savior.  I was helpless. All I could do is read this glorious book and let the story unfold in front of me. With no more pauses, I finished the book. I had my first moment, since the beginning of the book, of calm. I wanted to stop reading this book some many times and not because it was bad. The book is AWESOME; it was because of all the agony. She expresses the characters feelings so well that I felt like they we coming off of the pages of my iPad.

River did exactly what she does in each of her book titles, and with this book, she… RECLAIMED me. Where there was darkness, she gave me light (incandesces) and where there was emotion she afflicted me (Affliction).

As ways, River, thank you for taking me apart and putting me back together anew.

Grab this book. It is not the same read as Book 1 and 2.  Beware.

Happy Reading.

Incandescent
(Knights Rebels MC #1)

Phoenix ‘Nix’ Knight thought pulling his club out of the illegal shit his Pops got them into was difficult.
Until he meets Kadence.
Kadence Turner has no business lusting over a student’s father, especially the president of the Knights Rebels MC. Nix is crass, obnoxious and dangerously sexy and for some reason, Kadence can’t seem to hate him for it. The bossy biker breaks down her defenses, but unlike the old Kadence, the woman she is today won’t give in without a fight.
The tension is undeniable, the attraction fierce. A man that wants what he wants and a woman that will fight him every step of the way.
