Sustained by Emma Chase My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sustained (The Legal Briefs, #2)Sustained by Emma Chase
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Genre: Contemporary

Series: Yes Book two in the series.

Rating: 5/5

Steam level: 3.5/5

Main characters: Jake Becker (lawyer) and Chelsea McQuaid (college student, aunt, she does everything)

Synopsis:

A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.

When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.

Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.

Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I'm going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and arguing cases in the principal's office.

Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids.

And that — that, I know how to do.

Did I enjoy?: Yes. Immensely.

Brief review: First, I love Emma’s writing. It is witty, sexy, classic, and dominates your life when reading. She has this style that is just, AWESOME. I read very few contemporary books. I am smut (Erotica) all day long but there is something about her writing that lures me in like a sailor to a siren.

Second, I love the characters. They are so loveable and nothing like her other series, which is perfect. Emma always has a comic relief person in the book. If it is not Drew’s niece from the Tangled series or grandma in book one of the Legal Briefs series, then it is children and lots of them. There is nothing worse than an author recycling the topic in a new series with the same ole same ole. Yes, it is about a boy and he meets a girl but that is what all romance books are about. The way she has them meet, is perfect and challenging. I kept thinking while I reading this book, if this was me would I do that; uh YES, and would I want him to do that; HELL YES and is that position even sexually possible; honey I need you for a book fact check and YES it is, Thank you Ms. Chase.

Third, she makes reading fun. I read books because I like the escape. Sometimes I read a book and I am very upset with how it turned out. It’s like two people are writing it, the author and the editor. But her books just have this flow that is just harmonious with my book soul and that makes me giddy.
She writes so well that I don’t even miss what the smut (erotic) sessions. Her writing fulfills a need that I seek when I read smut (erotic) books

Would I read it again: Yes. I just reread this book last week. That would be three times. Sweet Tomatoes, this book is fantastic.

If you have not read this series, start on it now. It is awesome. I recently posted that there is a sale taking place for book one, this will allow you to catch up with the series. This book can be read as a standalone and it does involve a HEA and a lot of mini adults, which are hilarious.

Happy Reading.

{5-star rating} {Review of Overruled}

Overruled by Emma Chase
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Emma has done it again. She has brought humor, sexiness, an alpha, and Drew. Yes, I said Drew because he is back in Emma’s new book Overruled. To squash and prevent an all out fenizy, Drew is only in it for a brief hot moment but it was a time that I cherished, because I am all GAGA for Drew….I digress.

Stanton is a good fine Southern man who is a lawyer in the big city. This is how the beginning of this synopsis reads but the story actually takes place during Stanton’s “becoming a man” time and progresses forward.

While in college Stanton meets Drew. Now we recently (in his past books) have seen Drew as an ass, an uncle, a lover, a jerk, a friend, a father, and a fighter. Well to Stanton he is a friend that teaches him a lesson about life and women not once but twice. Stanton is a man that all the women want but three women get to have. The problem for this, is not the ladies but it is him. See the women know what they want. They either want Stanton to leave them the hell alone, want more of him, or did know that they wanted more of him. And poor Stanton he is man that is most definitely smiling from ear to ear because of this unrequited/unconditional/unwanted love.

Emma did the following in this book:
1. Made me laugh
2. Shocked
3. Cry
4. And placed me on the edge of my seat.

As always Emma brings in the ringer. Now in the other books by Emma I found that person to be Dee, Drew’s niece Mackenzie, and now it is a gun toting Grandma.

Grandma is a key person in this book and in the town. She knows things. She has a wealth of knowledge about life and relationships and she is ready to protect her family (the women) from Stanton. She brings all the comic relief in the book and a little Bourbon.

The book has a great flow and I was extremely happy that this book was not like the Tangle Series. Emma brought something new to the table with her writing and she did a damn fine job. She is an excellent writing and I am eager for more in this series. I think Emma is going to take some changes, from the synopsis I read of her next book in this series and that needed in the book world. More chances.

Happy reading and writing.

Review for Three Hard Lessons

Three Hard Lessons (Blindfold Club #2)Three Hard Lessons by Nikki Sloane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nikki did it again and so quickly. As people began to get over their heavy breathing and repeated flashback of how hot book one of this series is she gives us book two and it is a glorious. It begins were book one ended and tells us the story of our favorite call girl/bestie/ménage coordinator, Payton. We loved her in book one and cherish her in book two.

The flow of the book was so smooth and there is never a dull moment and even Payton is always doing something in this book. It just so happens that Payton and Logan’s best friend and the guy house he is squatting in Dominic, have a night to remember to the point that Payton breaks some of her rules and loses her mega bucks job. You know that I will not give away what is happening in the book but I will say that this book is all about location, location, location.

I love supporting characters in books. I think they are the driving force of a great story. Without them the characters can seem blah. They really bring the shine of this story. This story was no different.
I loved, loved, loved Dominic he is so sweet, shy and unknowing of his hotness. He is willing to do anything for Payton. His role is real, just like our previous lead in book one and Dom, Logan. What I mean by real is that I feel like his situations are could happen to a friend of mine and that his is an average Joe. I like that he does not play around with his feelings/ wants for Payton and express his need for Payton. He is lonely and she is definitely not dull so their partnership is hot from the start.

It won’t be a story, I love, without the drama and the angst. It won’t be one of the best erotica story without the smut, 2nd best sex scene this read year for me. Number one is book one, of course. And it won’t be romance if there was not a happy ending, and I will tell you there is and drum roll…… no cliffhanger! Yes!

But what makes it the BEST and one of the reasons why Nikki is on my short one-click list (meaning I do not even need to read the synopsis I will always click her. She could write about blue humpback whales and I am buying, but I digress) is because what she writes is also FUNNY. I was laughing so much. The humor is classic and needed now in most stories.

This is a best buy (because the book is on sale as of 4/9/15) and one of my go to books when I am in a runt.
Happy reading, writing and blogging!

5-star review of Fighting Silence

Fighting Silence (On the Ropes, #1)Fighting Silence by Aly Martinez
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Aly once again brought tears to my eyes and made we want to fight a bitch (male or female). The romance, conflict, and super drama was so yummy. Aly’s writing just made me want to fight some of those characters in the book. Her brings it out of me. I was overwhelmed by this heart wrenching story of two people learning how to survive at such a young age and depending on each other. I was drawn to the new theme that is present in this book and it is glorious.

How the characters and their development (which you all know I am big on) are written showing how they were made for each other. I am about to get really deep here so bare with me. The entire time I read Fighting Silence, all I thought of was The Symposium by Plato. I have placed some quotes from this book. Once you read them and the book you will see why I believe that Till and Eliza are soulmates.

They were first friends and then it grew to more. There was not a day that did not go by that they were not with one another.

“...and when one of them meets the other half, the actual half of himself, whether he be a lover of youth or a lover of another sort, the pair are lost in an amazement of love and friendship and intimacy and one will not be out of the other's sight, as I may say, even for a moment...” (The Symposium by Plato)

Until, there was a day that one of them believed that they should end this wonderful intimacy and that changed them. It changed their relationship, I would say for the better.

“...and when one of them meets the other half, the actual half of himself, whether he be a lover of youth or a lover of another sort, the pair are lost in an amazement of love and friendship and intimacy and one will not be out of the other's sight, as I may say, even for a moment...” (The Symposium by Plato)

Aly gave the characters and the reader such power; were you felt as though you had nothing. Eliza was phenomenal. She was my definition of the poem Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou. Eliza was strong when she needed to be and she was soft and sweet when needed. She was definitely more mature than Till and she saw greatness in him, when he was not able to see it in himself.

Till had a great support system and used it to the “t”. He became a better man, friend, lover, brother, and fighter due to this support. And on a personal touch, Aly gave us a man who worked hard. Put in his dues and was physical strong. He was my version of a new age caveman, and I mean this is in the best way.

**Recently, books are about billionaires and millionaire and not about the hard working blue collar man. Don’t get me wrong, I love them too, but this book make the story more realistic to me and I think that was another reason why I rated this book so high and put it on my best book list.**

I have talked around the best parts of the story because I don’t give spoilers away in my reviews. Now if you want the spoilers, you just have to message me. I will put you at ease, a little and say this:

Boy meets girl, girl does not like boy, boy wins over girl, there is a bunch of greatness and sadness in the middle, and then it ends. It ends but it begins. I know, I know, I still did not give much, but you will see. This book is a must read and got five stars for all of it’s greatness and once again, the smut was not present like I like it but, surprise, surprise I loved it.

What are these contemporary authors doing to me?

I think they are pulling me to their side.

I have to remember that every character in every book that I read brings about a change in me and Aly did damn well bringing a change.

Happy reading.

{Review} Three Simple Rules

Three Simple Rules (Blindfold Club, #1)Three Simple Rules by Nikki Sloane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nikki is now on my one-click author list. This list is short and to be on it is a blessed honor. What it means to me, is that I will one click the hell out of her books and will not need to read a synopsis, or that pesky sample that is just a book slutty tease of which I craving to have.

Now that you know how I feel about Nikki and her wick ways of writing, I have to tell you that Three Simple Rules, is my number book of 2015. Now I have authors that I had let’s say pre-forecasted that they would be on this list. But Nikki is like the Cinderella team in college basketball. She came out of nowhere and just kicked my book ass with her SWEET AWESOMENESS.

This book is simple, girl love her job, makes a mistake and is afraid she will lose it. She has to come up with some money to cover her ass, becomes a human sex doll (my words) for one night by being sold to the highest bidder. When sold, her “Sir” gives her Three Simple Rules to follow while they engage in their dirty sexy sex. It sounds simple but throughout the book you see it is a consistent struggle.

Question that follows is: What do you do when your one night is up (as a human sex doll (again my words)) and you want more sex from your “Sir”. Such a dilemma!

I loved all the characters. They were perfect. The rules were awesome and difficult to follow at times. The men (Logan and Blake) in the book were sweet, then arseholes, and finally horny. They wanted their way and did anything to get it. Evelyn is a hot commodity for the men around her and she has no idea.

This is not a geek to beauty queen. Evelyn is gorgeous already; she just doesn’t use her womanly wiles like she should.

I think that Logan is simply fabulous. I like that he is a very matter-a-fact person, who needs order and is very straightforward and alpha. Nikki's twist on the alpha male and BDSM is something fresh and innovative. I love that the men were not billionaires or a millionaire, they literally are the guy in the office next door to you and the friend you get a beer with after work. Its refreshing.

Nikki did a great job and I hope she has many more books in this series.

Happy Reading!

{Review} Claiming Addison - 69 Bottles #1 by Zoey Derrick

Claiming Addison - 69 Bottles #1Claiming Addison - 69 Bottles #1 by Zoey Derrick
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

ARC given in exchange for an honest review.

Zoey has brought us Sex, Drugs, and Rock n Roll in her new book Claiming Addison. She has most defiantly redefined the saying. The book introduces us to some sexually driven and gorgeous characters Addison, Kyle, and Talon.

We all know that Olivia Cummings provided us with rockers and smut (love it), Kylie Scott gave us Rockers, Sweet and those words, Lord have mercy she gave us those words. Well Zoey gave us Rockers, Words (Fantastic), hotness, and smut to the nth power.

The entire book in charged with a wonderful storyline and gorgeousness.

The first person we meet is Addison. I like her. She is brand new, not to Public Relations or the music industry but to love and showing herself to others. She is always behind the scenes being the fixer.

Next we meet Kyle. He is in control, the manager of 69 bottles and very complimentary to the band. He is sweet and smooth.

Last we meet Talon, the hot lead singer of the group. He can melt panties with his smile. He is know, like his band mates to have new women in his bed, nightly. I like his swagger (style).

When these three people meet, the idea of couplings and sex is changed. The sex in this book was flawless and will make you a little drenched. I could see people changing their panties a couple of times while reading. This book should come with a warning label.

There is self-discovery, sex, drama, sex, redefining, and sex. This book is not just about sex, though there is a great amount in the book, the development of the story was smooth and easy to follow. I didn’t want to put the book down but it was a must with the pantie change.

MMF, MFM, FMM, I am all for ménage’s and I generally do not read MMF books. I have in the past, well it is just not one of my interest. Zoey makes me very comfortable and brings out a side of voyeurism I did not know I had. I read the books but the detail in this book literally made me feel a though I was present during the bed/shower/wall a-shaking.

Zoey brings back Cami and Tristan. Yes! Loved them in series a Love’s Wings.

This book is part of a three book series and I want more book two and three now.

Happy Reading.

Excerpt
“Addison?” Talon calls my name from the front of the bus.

I, on the other hand, am still trying to get over what happened in the room a few minutes ago. I jumped down, the bus stopped and I fell into Talon’s arms and HOLY FUCK! He was hard as a god-damn rock and it was pressing against my hip. But his eyes were alight with lust and my god, his lips twitched with a need to kiss me. Ultimately, the look that was exchanged between Kyle and Talon was beyond anything I have comprehension for. I could spend months analyzing that look, but instead I need to pull up my big girl panties and get to work.

“Be right there,” I shout back. “Hurry up. There’s people waiting for you.” What the fuck?
“I’m coming.” Oh fuck, that was the wrong choice of words to use, especially after what just happened.

Thank god there is a mirror in our room. I adjust myself and climb back into my heels, fluff my hair and check my make-up, pinch my cheeks and straighten my skirt. If I didn’t know better, I’d think I was straightening up after a mid-day sexcapade on a tour bus. I roll my eyes at myself. It might as well have been.

“Get your shit together, Addison. You’ve been here for like five hours out of twelve weeks,” I whisper, then steel myself as I head back to the front of the bus. When I come around the corner it’s just Talon and Kyle with two more members of the men in black patrol. I smile sweetly at them.
