Review:

War title was just that, war. Everyone was at…wait for it….WAR. The story was about two mob organizations (but more like street thugs) and within one of the organizations, the Capitan is a woman, who prefers to go by “C” when her real name is Chevelley. He dangerously sexy lead is Xavier (X) is on the other mobs team but there is something about how he is with “C” that makes me think about…well you will have to read it to see.

Quote I liked from C:

Chevelley about X: “They always said the devil was handsome.”

I liked the idea. He is bad but he wants her, she is bad and she wants him, but in theory they cannot be together so it is kind of like the Montague’s and the Capulet’s.  The book had me and then it didn’t and then it did and then it didn’t. All the great parts of the book I was in awe and at the edge of my seat.

The sex was mild. I kind of wanted it to be rawer in the bedroom. Don’t get me wrong there was some but, I wanted more. What can I say; I am a greedy girl.

C is not as strong as I wanted her to be. She runs an organization like a democracy and it is a well organize mess. She lets everyone have input and seems to have feels, I am shivering because I wanted her to be kick ass all the time and not just when she was at War.

This book has sweet, hard, foul-mouth men and women who like drama, fighting, blood and to love. If you like Carter Reed by Tijan or Ruthless People series by J.J. McAvoy, you will enjoy this mob worthy story.

Pepper Winters has messed with my mind in the most delicious way possible. Tears of Tess has redefined dark erotica for me. This was one hellish journey. I seriously had to reread pages twice to ensure I read what was written correctly. I mean, WOW.

I love Tess’ fight. Her determination. The power she has but doesn’t know.

I loathed Q. He is an asshat. That man makes me crazy. I literally had pure hate for him at the beginning of this book. But I wanted more of him towards the end. I kept thinking how did Pepper do this to me and why?

I cannot give any spoilers. You have to read it. If you love The Dark Duet series this is most definitely the story for you.
This book took my breath away and made me cry. I was weak when Tess was weak and I was victorious when she was.

When I finished the book, I was wondering why my reading percentage was at 97%. Then I discovered that Pepper gave me a sneak peak at the second book. And this book is about, wait for it… Q (the kidnapper). I know! WTF! It will be from his POV and it is already available.
Yes, I will be reading it but must take a mental break to put myself back together because Pepper's story not only redefine me, but it broke me into pieces.

My Review:
I am desperately trying to find a way to read through my TBR (to-be-read) list and I have found this very difficult to complete. As I attempted to go to my TBR and pull a book at random I stumbled on a new book from Anna Zaires Twist Me. So, I read the description that was provided, and then a couple of reviews from some of my favorite people. After reading the sample, I brought the book. This book is not for the sweet and innocent romantic. Before reading this book; you must read the warning that is given. You must prepare yourself for agony, angst, and relish in the “twist” of things.

In many of the books I have read in the past the character has learned something about themselves that they never new before. This was me with this book; kind of like being able to see for the first time, after your vision has been corrected. I really enjoy dark stories with grit and strong alpha male.

I have to admit, I did not hate Julian. In the beginning I did not understand why he did what he did to Nora but I was not upset with him. He gave me no reason to hate him. He was strong and direct (at times) and he treated Nora as well as he could. Yes, he kidnapped her. But Nora’s interaction with him kind of set the pace for my feelings about him in this book.

This is one of those books that is good throughout. The writing was smooth and detailed.

This book is said to be erotic and I would assume that it is due to the content but there was not much “dirty talk”. I mean, Julian is definitely an Alpha but he is not much of a talker in the bedroom. I wanted that passion. Yeah, they talk about the moans and the briefs snips (in my opinion) about the sex. I guess I should be blushing to admit that I have read some true erotic filth (Lol) and was looking for this book to give me that.

There were several transitions with each character but it was not described in length. I understand this to be because this was Nora’s POV. And she tells one hell of a story.

Nora is just a regular teenager who just graduated from high school and is preparing for that awesome summer prior to college. But her life changes when she is taken and she must adapt to her new surrounds and this new life that was placed upon her that she does not want. She is smart and very determined. I don’t know how she was able to stay sane after the kidnapping. She is also strong and I think that we may see how strong she will be in book two. Oh yeah, there is most definitely a book two and it is going to be from the POV of Julian and Nora.
